Volunteers needed to help fellow seniors

Feb 28, 2018 07:50PM ● By Guest

The Montrose Senior Center is a lively place where local residents can get involved in programs and activities related to health, education, community and history. Seniors can improve their health and range of motion with movement exercises and Tai Chi classes; keep their minds sharp with games and seminars; and explore the region by participating in day trips to casinos, festivals and guided tours.

Behind the scenes is Golden Circle Seniors, a vibrant force of volunteers dedicated to enriching the quality of life for members in the community. This organization has been around since 1973, and is responsible for establishing the Montrose Senior Center, located at 1800 E. Pavilion Place, inside the Montrose Pavilion. They also sponsor the Hot Wheels Meals program that serves homebound seniors.

The Golden Circle Seniors are looking for volunteers to join them in providing nutritious meals to residents in the community.

Volunteers are needed for:

  • Meal setup, setting up dining tables and serving area (8:30-9:30 a.m.)
  • Servers (starting at noon)
  • Hosts (11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.) that greet people as they come in, dismiss tables to the food line once serving begins and take trays to those who need assistance.
  • Drivers and subs are needed to drive three different routes, averaging seven or eight stops each (11 a.m. to noon)
Golden Circle Seniors operates entirely on fundraising, donations and people giving their time. To volunteer or more information, call 252-4888.
