Summer Dino Dig

May 01, 2018 04:18AM ● By BEACON Senior News

Work alongside paleontologists at active research sites and learn excavation techniques, fossil identification and proper stewardship of paleontological resources as part of the Museums of Western Colorado’s dino dig and paleontology expeditions. The Fossil Prospecting hike takes participants out into the badlands of Western Colorado as participants search for previously unexplored fossil sites. The two-day lab/field expeditions allow participants to prepare fossils and raft calm parts of the Colorado River while touring dinosaur track sites. The museum is offering various half-day to four-day expeditions that are available May 22 through August 15. Cost and age requirements vary per activity, but includes transportation, guide/instruction and tools. For details or to book a dino dig, call 242-0971 ext. 2206, or visit www.dinodigs.org.
