In the age of mega-banks that are more concerned with making money for investors and big shots than about serving customers, it’s nice to know that there is still a family-owned bank that’s been around for over 100 years.

That bank is Bank of Colorado. Originally chartered in Ft. Lupton in 1900, the bank joined a larger family of local banks started by the Dinsdale family in 1978, according to Sierra McHugh, cash manager assistant for the downtown branch at 200 Grand Ave.

“In July of 1993, Bank of Colorado was opened in Grand Junction and we have been a vital cog in the Grand Valley community since,” McHugh said.

The Bank of Colorado has another branch at 2903 Patterson Road. Both branches offer competitive rates for checking and savings accounts, and both have after-hours drive-through banking. Their loan officers are experienced in agricultural lending and commercial lending, as well as lending money to individual clients.

“The communities we’re a part of make us who we are,” said McHugh. “Although we’ve grown, we still greet you by name and answer our calls in person.”
