Western Slope Cowboy Poet Terry Nash has been named 2018 Male Poet of the Year by the International Western Music Association (IWMA). Nash’s CD “A Good Ride” was also named Cowboy Poetry CD of the Year. Awards were held November 10 at the IWMA 2018 Awards of Excellence in New Mexico. Nash has written original poems and recited classic cowboy poetry for over 25 years. He believes that cowboy poets have the responsibility to keep Western heritage alive for audiences now and in the future. “All of us have a rural heritage in our past, even if it was multiple generations ago,” he said. “This genre of music and poetry speaks to that heritage and therefore speaks to each of us and helps us all recognize the commonality between all humanity.” For more information and to purchase Nash’s CD, call the Museums of Western Colorado at 242-0971.
