Feeling lucky in 2020?
Jan 07, 2020 10:05AM ● By Cloie Sandlin
Lucky for both of us, the BEACON has plenty of exciting things in store for 2020 that will take up most of my column. Don’t get me wrong. While resolving to accomplish goals and be a better person is admirable, our writers give much better advice than I do when it comes to self-growth and fresh starts. Read their insights and wisdom inside.
I’ll spare you my “new year, new you” talk for now. Here are some of the cool things coming early this year.
2020 BEACON Guide now available
Inside, you’ll find a copy of the 2020 BEACON Guide, our annual resource directory designed to help you age well. In addition to hundreds of local, state and national resources and hard-to-find phone numbers, it features informative articles to help with the transitions you or a loved one may be going through. If you need more free copies of this handy guide, call us at 243-8829.
The results are in!
Did you vote for the BEACON Best? If so, you could win a $50 gift card to one of your favorite businesses or hot spots. Look for your name in next month’s BEACON, along with those local businesses that BEACON readers think are top-notch.
Romance awaits
Get ready to put on your dancing shoes and save the date for the area’s best Valentine’s dance for boomers and seniors. On February 14, the BEACON Senior News and Hilltop bring you an evening of fun (and possibly romance), complete with hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and big band dance music by Clark Gault’s Swing City Express. Advance tickets are $20 per person. This event sells out, so reserve your tickets today by calling 243-8829.
BEACON brings home the bacon
Thank you to the BEACON staff, our freelance writers, supportive advertisers and faithful readers for a successful year at the annual North American Mature Publishers Association journalism competition! Read more about our award-winning publications inside.
Floor seats to the Doobie Brothers!
Last year, we gave away tickets to see the Rolling Stones. This year, we want to send one of our faithful readers rockin’ down the highway to see the Doobie Brothers in Denver. Want to know more? Don’t miss next month’s issue!
