BEACON Senior News - Western Colorado

What’s your secret?

Jan 28, 2020 11:05AM ● By Cloie Sandlin

For those of you who don’t already know, my long-time boyfriend (now husband) Sam and I finally tied the knot at a Parachute ranch in October.

Surrounded by family and friends on the banks of the Colorado River, our wedding was everything we’d hoped for—with a few surprises thrown in (like a bull elk crossing the river while we were taking family pictures).

In the months since our wedding, several long-married couples have lovingly shared their advice to a happy and fulfilling marriage. If you have any advice for us as we enter this new chapter, I’d love to hear from you! Write to me at [email protected] or PO Box 3895, Grand Junction, CO 81502.

BEACON Best winners

Thanks to the hundreds of readers who voted for this year’s BEACON Best and to the winners and nominees for providing quality products and outstanding customer service to Mesa County boomers and seniors. The votes are in, so find out who stands above the rest, starting on page 28.

Get your tickets to the area’s best Valentine’s Dance

Save the date for our Valentine’s Dance on February 14. We partner with Hilltop’s Senior Living Communities to put on this semi-formal affair from 7-10 p.m. in the Garden Room at The Commons of Hilltop in Grand Junction. Tickets are available for $20—a sweet deal since each ticket includes desserts and hors d’oeuvres created by Hilltop’s chefs, live music by Swing City Express and two drinks from the bar. Come with or without a partner—we’d love to see you! Call 243-8829 to reserve your tickets.

Volunteer of the Year nominations are open!

Where would we be without volunteers? Show them how much you love and appreciate them by nominating them for the BEACON’s 2020 Volunteer of the Year award. Click here for details—but hurry! The deadline to nominate a volunteer is February 14.
