Local audiologist creates clear face masks for hearing-impaired

Jun 02, 2020 09:52AM ● By Beacon Senior News

Grand Junction audiologist Jennifer Bebee, Au.D., of Western Colorado Hearing & Balance, is helping her patients communicate better with a new and improved clear face mask. These clear masks are similar to the cloth and surgical masks on the market, but with one difference: the area around the mouth is made of clear plastic. This helps hearing-impaired individual read lips. Dr. Bebee teamed up with Owls Nest Quilters to create a pattern and sew masks for her patients. Owls Nest Quilters took no payment for their work and instead requested that Bebee pay it forward by donating to Kids Aid. To make your own mask, you can find the pattern and instructions at www.wchearingclinic.com.
