When you’re born in the Bronx—the same neighborhood that produced teen idol Dion and actor Chazz Palminteri—and you love music, what else are you gonna do but make some? That’s exactly what Vinnie Adinolfi did.
At 17, Dion helped Adinolfi land a job at Columbia Records, where he spent 30 years working with some of the biggest names in music. But when Sony bought out Columbia, the entire staff was let go. Unsure of what to do next, Adinolfi turned to Palminteri, who gave him a life-changing suggestion: start your own band—with your kids—and do a retrospective of your career.
So that’s what he did. Adinolfi recruited sons Vincent John, then 14, and Nick, 11, along with two of their friends, Joe Bari and Fernando Tort. They called themselves The Bronx Wanderers, named after Dion and the Belmonts’ hit “The Wanderer.” They hit the road, and the rest, as they say, is history.

When The Bronx Wanderers play the third concert of Community Concerts at the Avalon Theatre, audiences will hear songs by legends Adinolfi once worked with—Dion, Frankie Valli, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel and Paul McCartney—along with hits by Queen and Bruno Mars.
“We play songs from my childhood in the Bronx through today,” Adinolfi said.
The group began performing in 2003 and has been entertaining fans for more than two decades. Since 2016, they’ve held a residency in Las Vegas.
Each band member has a favorite number to perform. For Adinolfi, it’s a toss-up between Dion’s first hit, “I Wonder Why,” known as the Bronx’s unofficial national anthem, and “Bohemian Rhapsody” because it allows the kids to show off their skills. All members are multi-instrumentalists, playing keyboards, guitars, bass, drums, saxophone and trading off lead and backing vocals.
None of the band members have been to Colorado before, and they’re looking forward to their first visit.
“The best part of touring is getting to go to states and towns we’ve never been and meeting new people who have never seen our show,” Adinolfi said.
After their show, fans can meet the band and share in the joy that keeps them going.
