Win tickets to see Next Generation Leahy as they bring high energy French Canadian music and dance to Grand Junction

Next Generation Leahy

Thursday, March 26 2026 • 7 p.m.

If you loved the fast-paced footwork of “Riverdance,” you’ll likely enjoy Next Generation Leahy, which brings French Canadian step dancing to the fifth concert in the Community Concerts of the Grand Valley season.

This family group from Lakefield, Ontario, delivers a similarly thrilling experience with its own style and sound. Pronounced LEE-hee, Next Generation Leahy features six siblings, ages 15 to 23, who sing, play multiple instruments and perform intricate step dancing in unison. Three younger siblings, ages 6 to 11, are waiting in the wings to join their older brothers and sisters when the time comes.

During the show, the siblings switch seamlessly between fiddle, piano, drums, accordion, guitar and bass while keeping the energy high from start to finish. They sing, dance and play as a unit, moving with precision that makes the performance as visually exciting as it is musical.

The Leahys have spent the past 11 years performing across North America, building a reputation for electrifying step dancing, instrumental skill and lush harmonies. Their show includes a mix of musical styles, from country and swing to pop and folk.

“This will be our first of hopefully many visits to Grand Junction!” said Adele Leahy, 23, the oldest sibling.

Touring isn’t easy, but Adele said the rewards far outweigh the challenges.

“Being able to see the beautiful country and travel as a family is definitely an incredible perk to touring and playing music,” she said, “but being able to meet and inspire people through our music is an amazing experience.”

One of the group’s favorite numbers is an original piece called “Derecho.”

Next Generation Leahy will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at the Avalon Theatre, 645 Main St. in Grand Junction.

Concertgoers are encouraged to stay after the show to meet the performers. Their energy just might inspire you to dust off your dancing shoes or pick up that long-abandoned guitar.

With one concert remaining in the CCGV season after this performance, individual concert tickets are $39 plus fees and are available three weeks before each concert. Tickets may be purchased from Ticketmaster or in person at the Avalon box office, open noon to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. You can also call the box office at 970-263-5757.
