King ’N Trio to perform benefit concert at Delta’s Egyptian Theater

Apr 02, 2026 09:26AM ● By Debbie Van Dyke

For more than 20 years, King ’N Trio has raised and donated more than $300,000 to charitable causes across the Western Slope. On Tuesday, April 21, the band returns to Delta’s Egyptian Theater for a fundraiser benefiting the Colorado PEO Marguerite Fund, which provides short-term emergency financial assistance to women in Colorado.

The band is well known at local venues and festivals for its rollicking mix of folk songs by the Kingston Trio, Irish tunes and hits from the 1960s through the 1980s. The group features Chris Unfug on guitar, Merritt Kinsey on bass, Kelly Anderson and Russ Williams on guitar, with all four providing vocals.

“We have a lot of fun. People seem to enjoy listening to us, and we’ve published five CDs and they’re all sold out,” said Kinsey.

All four band members are active Rotarians who donate their time, with proceeds benefiting charitable causes. The group has performed for audiences nationwide, including at Rotary International conventions and a PEO state convention in Denver.

PEO, which stands for Philanthropic Educational Organization, supports women through educational loans, scholarships, awards and grants. It has 220 chapters in Colorado and about 8,500 active members statewide. The Delta chapter has 30 active members.

Kinsey’s wife, Lois, who coordinates project scholarships for the Delta chapter, organized the fundraiser for the Marguerite Fund, which provides two short-term scholarships to help women facing extraordinary circumstances.

“I enjoy the camaraderie of the women getting together and doing good for others and taking care of others,” said Lois.

To help support that mission, King ’N Trio is inviting the community to an evening of music and fundraising at the Egyptian Theater, 452 Main St., Delta.

“We’re looking forward to playing at this event and we like the Delta Egyptian Theater,” said Kinsey.

Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 and will be available at DeltaEgyptian.org.
