Become a Volunteer Storyteller!

Storytellers share the rich oral tradition of tales that teach and enchant.

Spellbinders® Trained Storytellers share the rich oral tradition of tales that teach and enchant. Spellbinders® trained volunteer Storytellers usually tell (rather than read) stories once a month to students in grades K-5. Working with teachers. Storytellers enhance literacy, stimulate imagination, and broaden multicultural understanding.

Attending four, 3-hour training sessions is a prerequisite to becoming a certified Spellbinders® storyteller. You will receive tips on how to find, learn, and tell stories and will hear stories from active Spellbinders. Practicing telling stories and receiving constructive feedback will hone your skills. Following the classroom training, you will observe an experienced teller in a classroom, share a story, and receive feedback from that teller.

Fee is $75 and scholarships are available if needed.
