Echoing Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s classic hit, there ain’t no mountain high enough and no valley low enough to keep Community Concerts of the Grand Valley fans away from the Avalon Theatre as the Uptown vocal group kicks off the 2024-2025 season.

Hailing from New York City, the epicenter of contemporary pop and soul, Uptown is a group of men who blend the smooth stylings of rhythm and blues with today’s freshest hits. The trio brings a perfect mix of Bruno Mars-caliber stage presence combined with the vocals of Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye to Grand Junction on Friday, September 6, at 7:30 p.m. 

Each member is a soloist, bringing a unique flavor to the performance that will have you dancing and singing along.

Motown, a fusion of “motor” and “town,” became Detroit’s nickname, where the label was originally headquartered. The musical style blends soul music with pop to create the unique sound brought to life by legends like Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson and the Supremes.

The Uptown show isn’t limited to just Motown hits. The group exudes freshness and fun with their choreography, vocals and energetic stage presence, ensuring everyone will enjoy the performance. They also fuse medleys of popular songs, such as “I’ll Be There / I Want You Back / Can You Feel It” by the Jackson 5. So, get your mojo working and kick off the season with music and fun.

Go to CommunityConcertsGrandValley.org/tickets and include reserved seating. The theater has an elevator, handicapped seating, a drop-off area in front of the theater and convenient downtown dining. Doors open one hour before the show.

Season ticket prices range from $90 plus fees, $100 plus fees, to $110 plus fees, depending on your seating preference.

If available, individual concert tickets are $45 plus fees, starting three weeks before the concert. Purchase tickets with a credit card at the Avalon Box Office, 645 Main St., Grand Junction, by calling 970-263-5757 Thursday through Saturday from 12-6 p.m., or at Ticketmaster.com.
