On February 12, the Montrose Center for Arts (MCA) will host its grand re-opening celebration to introduce the new and re-imagined center to the public. The event will take place at the new location on 205 E. Main St. in Montrose, from 4:30-7 p.m.
“Let HEART take root: An Interpretive Show of Western Trees” will be a fun and informative evening where visitors can view (and purchase) the work of more than 50+ community artists. Local businesses and event sponsors San Juan Nursery and Thrive Probiotic Plant Food will be on hand to emphasize the taking root theme by sharing their knowledge of local gardening, replenishing trees and feeding the soil.
Guests can purchase a commemorative poster with art designed by Heidi Comstock. MCA invites you to celebrate this special evening with us while taking in and taking home special heartfelt art and commemorative items.
“We chose the re-imagine theme because it aligns well to what will be happening within MCA. We are re-imagining what is possible for the gallery, arts on the Western Slope and our connection within the community and surrounding regions,” said MCA Member Julia Reid, artist and grand re-opening event organizer. “The focus on trees for our grand re-opening ties in with this idea of creating this synergetic relationship with the diverse community around us. Our roots are here in Montrose.”
“We invite the community to support the arts by becoming members of the MCA and help sustain the vision of connecting the arts and community,” said Interim Board President Pat Chaloupek. “The advantages of membership include invitations to member-only special events, regular events and classes; unique show opportunities; notifications through the newsletter on all upcoming activities; and the ability to provide feedback on the direction of arts on the Western Slope.”
