“Promise: A story of Harold Aupperle and the Grand Valley at the turn of the 20th Century and World War I” by Grand Junction author Joe Zeni is a finalist in the 2025 Colorado Independent Publishers Association (CIPA) EVVY awards. Winners will be announced on September 18 in Boulder. Published by San Juan Publishing Group of Montrose, Zeni’s book chronicles the life of Harold Aupperle, placing his experiences in Grand Junction, at Stanford, and in Eastern Europe during World War I within the context of rapid changes at home and abroad.
